Youth Mentoring Program
The Penola Coonawarra Music Gathering Association received a grant from Bendigo Bank to assist with the Youth Mentoring Program. Its goal is to give young people who are passionate about music an insight into a musical career and some practical skills. The program is also open to young people who have a serious interest in playing music and would like to find out more.
The Youth Mentoring Program will be held Friday March 12th starting at 10:30 am to 2:00 pm at Rymill Hall McCorquindale Park Cameron St Penola.
The program is seeking participants aged 14 to 25 who are considering making music their career choice. Any genre of music is acceptable as long as it is acoustic and original music is encouraged.
During the first part of the program the participants will hear from professional international musicians who will talk about their life’s experiences, the highs and the lows and the realities of a musical career. There will be an opportunity to ask any questions. The panellists will be Andrew Clermont and Nancy Bates.
After a break, there will be a master class which will include;
preparation before the performance
song writing workshop
hints and tips on playing specific instruments.
Following a BBQ lunch there will be an opportunity to perform in front of an audience and be critiqued depending on class numbers.
This is a free event and you are welcome to self-select by filling the form below.
