Penola is a very pretty and historic town situated in the beautiful Limestone Coast and adjacent to the world-renowned Coonawarra Wine Region.
​
It is 384km from Adelaide, 3 ½ hr drive from the Toll Gate. It is 428 km from Melbourne approx. 4 ½ - 5 hr drive from Melbourne. Penola is a ½ hour drive from Naracoorte, Millicent, and Mt Gambier and an hour drive to Robe and Beachport.

The McCorquindale Community Sports Centre is on Cameron St and only a 10 minute stroll to cafes, pubs and shops.
​
The weather is usually glorious in March but does cool down at night, so bring something warm to wear.
The Visitor Information Centre in Arthur St Penola has a map of all the wineries, most of which have free tastings. Some have cellar door sales where you'll find great bargains!

The Penola Pool is open for the swim season on days when the forecast is for 20 degrees and over. Patrons can swim free of charge from 3 - 6pm Monday to Friday and 1 - 6pm on weekends, public and school holidays.

The Penola Golf Course is an 18-hole golf course located 10 kilometres south of Penola. It is flat but well wooded with tight fairways being set amidst natural bushland. Visitors welcome. More information at the Visitor Information Centre.

Bendigo Bank and Bank SA ATMs are located in the main street (Church St).
​
The Mary Mackillop Information centre and Museum is on the corner of Portland St and Petticoat Lane and is open 7 days a week. While you are there, wander down Petticoat Lane to look in the historic buildings and community gardens. Don’t forget to take an apple to feed Goldie, the resident Alpaca, in the lavender farm.

Yes, the ‘Never Too Old’ Antique Shop has re-opened in Church St. This iconic shop is a slightly smaller version than you may remember but still fascinating.

If you get a chance, check out the pubs, cafes and other shops in the main street. Busking is encouraged throughout the week and weekend in the main street and in the Town Square.
